We know very well that the world we live in today is far, far different from the world of the First Century. But the mission Jesus gave us is the same no matter what century we live in and no matter what social, political and economic realities we are dealing with. As we move through the stories of Acts, we will see how the early Christians stayed true to their mission in the face of social change, persecution and internal dissension. These are lessons that we do well to pay attention to as we desire to be a church true to God’s will for us.
